May 20th, 2011 - "Working ranches outside of the mountain and recreation market, had been settling due to factors in the overall economy. More recently, the overall strength in the farmland market as well as substantially higher grain prices is causing prices to firm fairly quickly, as grassland forage tends to be a partial substitute for higher grain prices. The result is that beef cattle operators will tend to hold cattle on grass longer due to the relatively lower feed cost compared to grain. During 2011, we expect to see increasing demand for ranchland at realistic prices."   Read more...
